DSWD, LGU share notes on how to have effective, efficient delivery of services.

One of the good things about having dialogues between partners is that there are thorough discussions on important matters that need to be addressed to further strengthen the partnership.

DSWD has worked with partners in delivering social welfare and protection – these partnerships have ensured delivery of quality service to target beneficiaries and clients.

During a courtesy visit by DSWD Field Office Caraga Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga in the Municipality of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur, this was what exactly the Director and Cantilan Municipal Mayor, Hon. Philip Pichay were down to.

After providing the good mayor with the updates and accomplishments of the DSWD programs and services provided to the people of Cantilan, and giving input of the plans of the Agency, Dir. Dollaga engaged with Mayor Pichay in evaluating the impact of the services of DSWD in the municipality.

Mayor Pichay thanked Dir. Dollaga for the dialogue, and expressed his appreciation that the top officer of the Agency really found the time to engage with the local chief executives.

In response to the overflowing provision of services to his constituents, Mayor Pichay proactively supported the Field Office. In fact, LGU Cantilan has already received prepositioned food and non-food items from DSWD since they were able to secure a warehouse for the said purpose.

Mayor Pichay also expressed his all-out support to the implemented programs of DSWD, especially the 4Ps, since he saw the impact it had on the lives of his poor constituents. He said that though there are reports of 4Ps beneficiaries mismanaging their grants (gambling, purchase of alcohol), he still believes that this does not reflect how majority of beneficiaries manage their grants.

Mayor Pichay even promised to look into these reported incidence and committed to also be active in guiding the beneficiaries. Mayor Pichay also invited the Field Office to be part of his advocacy to conduct medical missions, saying that DSWD can capitalize on these missions by incorporating the different progams and services of the Agency.

Dir. Dollaga appreciated all that the LGU has done for DSWD and expressed her desire to take part in the LGUs endeavors, especially since it will benefit the underserved and the vulnerable in the community.
